Why Health Information Matters
Massage therapy involves physical manipulation of soft tissue. Certain health conditions require modified techniques, lighter pressure, or avoidance of specific areas to ensure your safety and wellbeing.
Conditions that may affect massage treatment include, but are not limited to:
- Recent surgery or injury
- Blood clots, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), or circulation disorders
- Pregnancy
- Cancer or recent cancer treatment
- Heart conditions or high blood pressure
- Diabetes
- Skin conditions, rashes, or open wounds
- Osteoporosis or bone fragility
- Neuropathy or nerve damage
- Autoimmune conditions
- Recent injections (Botox, cortisone, etc.)
Your Responsibility
By confirming the accuracy of your health information, you acknowledge that:
- You have answered all health intake questions truthfully and completely
- You have disclosed all relevant medical conditions, injuries, surgeries, and health concerns
- You understand that withholding information may result in injury or complications
- You will inform your therapist before treatment if anything changes in your health status
- You have consulted your physician if you have concerns about whether massage is appropriate for you
Updating Your Information
If your health status changes between bookings, you agree to:
- Update your intake information before your next appointment
- Inform your therapist verbally before the session begins
- Contact Here Massage if you need guidance about whether a condition affects treatment
Therapist Use of Information
Your health intake information will:
- Be reviewed by your assigned therapist before your appointment
- Be used to determine appropriate techniques and modifications
- Remain confidential and be shared only with your therapist
- Not be used for any purpose other than providing safe massage services
When in Doubt, Disclose
If you are unsure whether a condition is relevant, please include it. Your therapist can determine whether and how it affects your treatment. It is always better to over-communicate than to withhold information.
